Portland Depot - The Start of a Town
The route between Nashville, Tennessee and Louisville, Kentucky has been traveled for centuries. From horses and stagecoaches to the progress of trains there have been points of layovers and stops for replenishment. One such point turned out to be a small community that started out with the name of Richland but was changed officially in 1905 to Portland.
